healing intensives: online and in North Carolina & South Carolina

Intensives

An intensive is intentional, concentrated therapeutic work designed to support deeper movement when the foundation for healing is already in place.

Focused, immersive healing for deeper transformation.

This is why most of the intensives conducted at The Healing Collective are offered only to current clients who are actively engaged in individual work. I must establish a relationship with myself before I can establish one with anyone else, and if that internal relationship is conflicted, every other relationship will be as well.

The common denominator in my relationships is me. While intensives do create faster relief, this occurs because the groundwork has been laid, and the client is in a state of willingness and supportability, rather than being self-sabotaging.

An intensive is not a quick fix. It is emotional surgery. It is intended to be supplementary, not a standalone service.

Extended sessions designed to support embodiment, emotional access, and deep processing.

Some individuals struggle to get into their body or access feeling.
Others access feeling quickly but struggle to stay regulated once there.

Individual intensives allow for sustained co-regulation so experiences can be processed rather than avoided, bypassed, or overwhelming.

In an individual intensive, we may explore:
  • Relationship with a parent or caregiver
  • Relationship with a partner
  • Relationship with self
  • Attachment wounds
  • Inner child and reparenting work
  • Grief
  • Unresolved relational experiences (living, deceased, estranged, or never-met)

Individual Intensives

Individual intensives are intended to:
  • Release past wounds that keep repeating
  • Create corrective emotional experiences
  • Support reparenting
  • Shift internal relational dynamics

When the body has a new experience, old patterns no longer need to drive present behavior.

One powerful aspect of individual intensives is that relational repair can occur without the other person being present, creating safety and boundary integrity while still allowing transformation.

Focused relational work for couples seeking deeper connection, safety, and truth.

Couples may come in for:
  • Communication struggles
  • Intimacy challenges
  • Betrayal or rupture
  • Parenting stress
  • Trauma within the relationship
  • Desire for deeper emotional connection

Regardless of the presenting concern, the foundation of couples intensives is emotional safety.

Without emotional safety:
  • Truth is impossible
  • Vulnerability feels dangerous
  • Repair cannot occur

Some couples ultimately stay together.
Some separate.
Some divorce more consciously.

Couples Intensives

The goal is to create enough emotional safety that each person can speak honestly, feel fully, and make grounded decisions.

Couples intensives are most effective when paired with individual therapy, as two individuals make up the system.

Core areas of focus often include:
 • Emotional safety
 • Trust
 • Empathy
 • Boundaries
 • Attachment dynamics
 • Relational repair

Healthy relationships require a healthy relationship with self. Intensives help build that foundation.

The goal is not to force an outcome.

Family intensives create space for every person to be heard.

Family work is not about deciding who is right and who is wrong.

Perception is shaped by experience.
Because of this, perceptions cannot be wrong.

Family intensives focus on:
  • Emotional safety
  • Listening to understand (not to respond)
  • Speaking truthfully about thoughts, feelings, and actions
  • Allowing each person to take up space

A family therapist is not a referee.
We do not determine winners and losers.

We hold space so clarity can emerge.

When clarity happens, needs often shift.
When needs shift, relationships shift.

Family intensives are designed to:
 • Reduce power struggles
 • Increase emotional safety
 • Support healthy hierarchy (not dictatorship)
 • Create space for honest expression
 • Prevent long-term relational rupture

Families often report that intensives feel far less overwhelming than expected and move more quickly than anticipated.

Avoidance costs more than presence.

Testimonials

“It's hard to imagine where my life would be without recovery at this point as I'm certain it's saved my marriage, relationship with my children, and my life. I've learned how to feel, love myself, have more grace and compassion, and break the cycle of dysfunction.”

“My life feels more fulfilled. I have tools to help regulate emotions and triggers. I have started to use my voice and implement boundaries to keep me and my little girl safe.”

“There is a way out and it is through the pain, something I avoided for decades, and couldn't do alone. I had no idea how freeing feeling and walking through the pain with others who know that pain could be.”

“Be patient with yourself; you didn't get here in a day, or a week, or even a year. It's not your fault. Be open and honest...to thine own self be true. Recovery really isn't a journey, its a lifestyle and it has its ups and downs but its a helluva lot better than where you're coming from - it is for me.”

“The work may seem exhausting at times but it's totally worth the healing and connections you build as a result of working with The HC.”

“I know that I didn't know where to start; I just knew that I needed help. And I'm so grateful and thankful for Amber and The Healing Collective for guiding me through this journey. I have continued to challenge myself more and more over the past 8+ years and while it's the hardest work I have ever done, it's so worth it. When I'm not sure what to do next, I trust the process.”

“Lives are being saved at Healing Collective - and I love how my mind has been changed just from knowing/interacting with the team/other clients.”

We understand that starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions.

Are intensives billed differently?

Yes, intensives are typically billed per hour and depending on the length of the intensive may be billed at a different rate than the clinicians hourly rate.

Are intensives able to be reimbursed by insurance?

Intensives are typically not reimbursed by insurance, however it really depends on the insurance provider and their policies.

Can I use my FSA/HSA card for my intensive?

Yes, this is a therapeutic service and you can use your FSA and HSA card as long as the insurance carrier has providers approved.

Do I have to do more than one intensive?

You don’t have to do intensives at all. Intensives can be prescribed by your clinician, but it is always an option to the client. Our ethical obligations as therapists are to provide all options to create safety and change. The client chooses to participate in the treatment plan at their own level of willingness.

Does everyone in the practice do intensives?

No, Intensives are a service provided by clinicians with years of experience offering family systems and inner child healing.

Do you offer refunds for Intensives?

No, we do not offer refunds for healing services. The goal and foundation for an intensive is set up extensively prior to the facilitation of an intensive. The outcome of the intensive is dependent upon the client, not the clinician. Our role is to guide, not fix, solve, or change you. Therefore the success of the intensive is up to the client.

Why do I have to pay a deposit for an intensive?

Intensives are 4 hours or multiday. When you schedule an intensive that is time the clinician is not able to schedule other clients. Therefore, a commitment to that time is required via a 50% deposit to support accountability in follow through.

What is the cancellation policy for an intensive?

We ask that you cancel your intensive as soon as possible. However, if that is not done at least 48 hours in advance, we are not able to refund the deposit. Without this 48 hour window we are not able to schedule other clients during this time for the clinician and it is a loss to the company.

Can a clinician choose to end an intensive early?

Yes, if there is any violation of safety to anyone involved in the intensive (including the clinician), at any point, the clinician can end the intensive early and a refund will not be made.

If I live out of state can I come see Amber for an Intensive?

Yes, clients fly in from all over the country to work with Amber in person through multi day intensives. It is up to Amber’s discretion on what is covered in an intensive examination due to clinical judgement and safety.

Deeper healing is allowed to have support.

You don’t have to do this alone.
Focused support is available.
